From the CEC Smart Brief:
Using electroencephalographs, researchers from the University of California, San Diego found that in the brains of individuals with autism, mirror neurons, which help people perceive and understand the actions of others, responded only to their own movements and not to those of other people. The scientists say the study adds to the understanding of the neural basis of autism and could potentially assist in the design of early detection and therapies. Science Daily Magazine (4/18)
