Hubby's Story Published Again...

Image hosted by TinyPic.com

THE MAG: The Muse Apprentice Guild

Reiner proved his prowess in writing short stories during our Darkest Times. He would write every single day and until late at night when he was at home. He was able to write suspense/thriller novels and short stories and publish them in pocket books and major magazines in the Philippines. I guess he acquired his creativity and skill in writing stories from reading Stephen King's novels and playing Dungeons and Dragons for decades.

After seven years of being in hiatus, he decided to draft a plot for his Ragnarok internet game...
.

"Tell us about the legendary dungeons Gramma," a toothless girl pleaded as she sat by the fire with her brothers and sisters. A withered old lady smiled and said, "Well, listen up, many say that this story is not just a legend but of what actually happened in our kingdom."...

Sho-Hee loved Moon-Ak wholeheartedly and couldn't wait to be his wife. She cared not for his power, but she loved his kindness and wisdom. At night she would sing her love for her young and handsome god-king, the beautiful melody filling the halls of the kingdom...

But the cheers ended abruptly when all of a sudden the sky tuned dark and lit up with fire. The ground shook tremendously and to the horror of everyone, the dead rose up from the graves...

The children all climbed into their beds and waited for sleep to take over. The wind started to blow and carried with it a beautiful haunting melody that seemed to come from nowhere. The little girl looked out the window and saw the moon was full. "
.
Unknown to him, I submitted his story to The MAG which is not so much a literary review as a literary festival. It presents the work of the most imaginative and innovative writers from all over the world.

It is an honor for my husband to be one of the authors in the International Fiction Stories of The MAG Spring 2005 Edition.

I always have great admiration for people who write. I do write myself, but it takes a long time for me to develop a theme. I keep on dreaming though that someday I will also be able to write a novel...or novelette. I encourage you to encourage Reiner to keep writing and to finish that book that he has started. The only
thing necessary is write a page a day. We can never tell. It might becomne a bestseller. I read one time that there are about a thousand writers, both here and in Europe, who have written far better fantasy thrillers than Harry Potter...but Harry Potter became...the winner. I have this granddaughter here with me, who writes and writes in her computer, but she never showed her writings to us...Very secretive. I could not coax her to show them to me. She'd been writing since 12 and she is now 17, in 11th grade. I imagine that she has written quite a volume by this time. More later. Cheers to Reiner.

  3. TJ, I keep on pushing him to write like he used to, especially now that there's a highre probability that he could get published by better publishers in print. He's 100% far better a writer than I am. He said he's not that inspired to write at this time. I will keep on encouraging him...thanks TJ

LIDITH, see you Saturday.

EVI, thanks girl! It feels good not to be isolationists. We shouldn't become so wrapped up in our own self that we become unaware of the greatness and wonders of the rest of the world. We speak of making a difference in the world, I know everyone of us wants to do that.

Your hubby is very good.
I am a published author ng children's books. My works have been nominated sa National Book Awards (tatlong books sabay-sabay na-nominate) In other words kalaban ko ang sarili ko that year. Sabi nila first time daw nangyari 'yon. I know that is something to be proud of, pero di ko alam kung bakit mas gusto ko yung may secret identity.Baliw ba ako, teacher Sol? I am a professional writer, I have written ten novels and one trilogy which are all now in the process of being published. My bf, Spartacus, is a well known journalist, here and abroad. He is in fact the editor-in-chief of a daily paper. He is also a columnist of a US based paper.
At Pinoy for that matter.
You are really one fabulous teacher, Sol, kasi napaamin mo ako. Tseeh!

PATRICE, thanks. Kakagulat 'no?

    Hi ulit Sol,
Yung misteryo ko, tip of the iceberg pa lang 'yun hehehe
Silipin ko ha?There is a dearth of good writers for children's books dito sa atin . And illustrators too. I wrote the trilogy (for children) in two days pero production time, one year. Grabe, no?
I write in Filipino, by the way, at ang tawag ko sa sarili ko ay accidental writer.
I studied in UST at kahila-hilakbot ang kurso ko (alam mo ito dahil Med ka di ba?) Graduate ako ng B.S Biochemistry. O, ang layo, di ba? Ni kapirasong background sa pagsusulat, wala.
Anyway ang haba na nito. I'll talk to my publisher tungkol sa stories mo, k?

Bel: Aba!
Sol: Sorry for cross-posting! Hehe! Peace!
