RECITATION

Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not. - THOMAS HUXLEY-

Classroom recitation, defined as a series of teacher questions, each eliciting a student response and sometimes a teacher reaction to that response. I usually give posing questions which call for speculative, inferential and evaluative thinking. I get different reactions from my students during recitation and most of the time they amuse me; I can relate to them, I was a student too once upon a time.

I remember whenever my teachers would start calling students for questioning, I would avoid having eye contact with him/her and pray to God he/she would spare me. I can still recall how I would nervously scan through my text books and notebooks hoping that the page would miraculously open to answer the question asked. I would suddenly feel uncomfortable, restlessly twitching and turning on my seat, wanting to leave the classroom without any reason or excuse to tell the teacher. Ahhh...those were the days. And now for my revenge...bwahahaha....

***This is one of my favorite writing exercise for my students: "IF I COULD..." . The Soul-Seeker asked me in her blog to do this exercise myself, and like a compliant student, I did the exercise without complaints. Here's my answer:

If I could be in one place right now... it would be in Wonderland where I could release all my inhibitions and make impossible things possible.
If I could give something of myself to my friends... I would give them my compassion for the special children so there would be more people in the world to understand the exceptionalilty of special children.
If I could take some people somewhere...I would take them in my classroom so they too can experience the miracles that happen there everyday.
If I could make one dream come true... it would be world peace! (sabay kaway pang Ms. Congeniality)
If I could do real magic...I would make poverty in the world disappear.

Your turn! I get to invite 5 blogger friends to do the same activity...
- TITA BAMBIT
- GLENN
- MAILA
- KA URO
- RENEE

***After another day, Nao tagged me to do almost the same thing but with different prompts:

It's good when u have... someone to pamper and spoil you all the time (hi hubby!)
The best part of love is... when it is reciprocated.
Step out of...the kitchen when it is flaming hot (you don't wanna be roasted with your chicken).
I had a sly smile when...hubby prepares a romantic dinner with wine (what happens next is up to you).
Turn it on and...turn it loud and wild (the music when my daughter and I are dancing)
Don't mess with my...laptop computer, it has all my important files (or else!)
I love the way I feel when...I get what I want.
There were lots of... ups and downs in my life, but I don't regret any of it.
The moment I laid eyes on... Reiner, I knew he's the one! ('ala The Matrix :D)
Walking down the isle... is completely different than anything I've ever done!
It's best to... be happy for 30 minutes of your life than never having to experience it at all.
When u find the right... person to spend you whole life with never let that person go, or you will be forever wandering looking for someone like him/her.
Understanding the dos & dont's of... love is like understanding how Einstein came up with his formula E=mc2.
The worst music I've heard... is when I was singing in the bathroom while in despair.
Large bold prints can seem...overwhelming and too loud for me.

Now I get to tag 5 blogger friends too...
- ARVIN
- BING
- ATONG
- DRE
- AIR MILIKAY

O, yung mga 'di natawag 'wag na magtampo, kayo naman ang susunod...hehehe.

  19. (1) If I could be in one place right now, it would be something like a Marlboro country (sprwling green lawns, cold and misty morning, with my cowboy costume, LOL!)

    (2) If I could give something of myself to my friends, it would be my never-fading smile, hehe! (sorry for being too narcissistic, so many people simply frown for nothing; time to cheer up!)

    (3) If I could take some people somewhere... -->> well it depends. I'll bring my rich, brat friends in the middle of Quiapo, Baclaran or Divisoria and let them realize how detached they are from reality. I'll bring my not-so-lucky friends to the posh villages of their corrupt, elected politicans (Wack-Wack, Forbes, etc) to let them see the irony of being a Filipino (bitter ako, hehe).

    (4) If I could make one dream come true, I'll form a globocop to manage world peace (world peace pa rin, pinaikot ko lang konti, hehe)

    (5) If I could do real magic, I'll turn this damn-full-of-crooks-corrupt government into a bunch of monkeys (sorry animal lovers) and throw them in the middle of the ocean in a strike of want (fairy daw, hehe!)

  22. GLENN, "If I could take some people somewhere... -->> well it depends. I'll bring my rich, brat friends in the middle of Quiapo, Baclaran or Divisoria"...and leave them there, makauwi kaya sila without calling their drivers or bribing anyone to bring them home? :D joke lang po, batu-bato sa langit ang tamaan wag magalit!

ANJEL, yes, I got your email, thanx. Still waiting for your autobiography. About your achievements, wow! masyado pala marami, pakisulat nalang yung most recent 10.
