Early this evening I got this e-mail from The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards which reads:
Dear Maria Lourdes Angala,
The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards is pleased to offer you an assessor position for this summer. Attached is an Assessor Agreement for the 2005 session. Please read, complete, sign and return the agreement and confidentiality statement to my attention at the address below. Please use the following information when completing the information at the top of the contract:
Certificate: Early Childhood through young Adulthood/Exceptional Needs Specialist - Mild to Moderate disabilities
Site: Baltimore, MD
This came by surprise. Maybe I was over reacting when I screamed and jumped for joy upon getting this e-mail and a call from the NBPTS representative to become an assessor to this prestigious National Board Certification® , which measures a teacher's practice against these high and rigorous standards. Teachers who have participated in National Board Certification have overwhelmingly stated it is the most powerful professional development experience of their careers.
After passing the state board (Praxis 1&2), my next goal is to pursue the National Board Certification next year. Being an assessor to the candidates this year is a big advantage to joining the core group of National Board Certified Teachers in every school across the nation.
Thank you God for this blessing. Thank you everyone for the inspiration.
*** Please see the right sidebar here for more of my National Board Certification candidacy chronicles.
