Maryland to close troubled home for those with severe disabilities

Gov. Martin O'Malley announced today that he will close the Rosewood Center, the state facility for the developmentally disabled that has been the subject of a series of reports of abuse and neglect over the past several years. (By Christopher T. Assaf / January 15, 2008)

The Baltimore-area's 120-year-old Rosewood Center will close within 18 months after repeated allegations of abuse and neglect, Gov. Martin O'Malley said Tuesday. While some advocates for those with disabilities cheered the announcement, O'Malley said he was still worried about how the 150 residents will adjust to the change. The Sun (Baltimore)
