Texas district ordered to fund private tutor

Amy Sosa, with her son Alex, said educators didn't give the 14-year-old the tools he needed to learn.

The family of a boy with autism and other disabilities won school funding for a private tutor but not a private school in a Texas IDEA case. While the boy's parents failed to prove the school failed to provide an appropriate education, the hearing officer found fault with the school's delay in addressing the boy's failing language-arts, math and science grades.
