Mentors help first-time teachers navigate classroom challenges

Only 28% of new Ohio teachers leave the profession within five years versus 46% nationwide thanks in part to the state's strong mentor programs, officials there say. Ohio allocates $800 for each first-year teacher to help offset the costs associated with mentoring them. The Plain Dealer (Cleveland)
