Thimerosal not cause of autism, researchers say

Researchers found that the removal of a mercury-based preservative called thimerosal from childhood vaccines has not reduced the rates of autism in California, suggesting the preservative does not cause the neurological disorder. Autism rates for 3-year-old children increased to 1.3 per 1,000 births in 2003, from 0.3 per 1,000 births in 1993. San Francisco Chronicle , Forbes/HealthDay News
