Thursday last week, I got a message from my tag board from Perla Paredes-Daly which says:
"Teacher Sol, you are responsible for linking fabulousfilipinas movement with the "yang ang pinay" movement. You joined both, and I find yours and then I found theirs through your blog!! "
What does Miss Daly say about FabulousFilipina movement? Almost the same thing as what the "YAN ANG PINAY" movement has to say.

Who Is The New Filipina?
You may not know me.
Truth is, I am still getting to know my new self.
The last time I looked, I was bound by my fears.
I felt I had no one. I thought I had no choice.
I know that it is not true.
I have a choice. I can be who I want to be.
I can go where I want to go. I am proud of myself.
I am the new Filipina.
Are you?
All you PINAYs/PINOYs in the house...say "PRESENT!"

J. ANGELO (PINOY) said today in his blog entry, "I want to make the world better for three Filipinas who are very, very close to my heart: my wife Caren and my daughters Sofia and Clarisse."...YAN ANG PINOY!
VONJOBI (PINOY) said in his YAN ANG PINAY entry, "So why am I doing all of this? I owe a lot to Filipinas, especially Filipina librarians, and my mom!"...YAN ANG PINOY!
JONAS DIEGO (PINOY) said in his YAN ANG PINAY! entry, "Hoping to improve the Pinay’s image online, a movement has been formed to do just that...(so) people will also get to know the other facets of being a Filipina."

Filipinas eversince have captured the hearts not only of their own race but other's as well. Filipina women of the contemporary times have long been in a journey, fighting for their beliefs, aspirations and identity. Filipina women living in a changing and modernized society should also change for a better and more firm stand of their own identity. Filipina women have dreams of a better society, a better view of them-- Filipinas. These through societal struggle and sexual conflicts will be achieved in time... in time that i believe is not far from today.

God made the Earth and the Universe so expansive that it could hold many, many fabulous people--- those who shine their light in the world. Here are Filipinas (and Filipinos) who have something to share and give of themselves.

Ma'am present po. Back to school tomorrow yeahhhh... May baon naman ako yaaaa....hehehee... Proud to be Pinay talaga. We rule!!!! Ako pa!!! Talking like there's no tomorrow. Do you know the lyrics of noypi???
When i was growing up and as a young adult, i had the closed-hearted, small notion that the world was only big enough for a few, special people, fabulous people. It took growing up, really growing up and opening up my heart and mind, to realize that God made the Earth and the Universe so expansive that it could hold many, many fabulous people. People who may at first seem ordinary... but aren't. OR people who may have even taken different paths and lived their lives in a unconventional ways... and are brave enough to be fabulous in their own ways. They all have something in common----they are those who are trying to shine their light or ARE bright stars shining in this world and Creation.

hi teacher sol. nice site. proud to be pinay too
Well, it seems to affect not just one gender of the Filipino race, but the race itself as a whole.
For hundreds of years we've been underdogs, but though we lose the wars, we win the battles... and we seem to take pride in that - although we lose in some big ways, we can still win in some small ways.
I guess it just gives off a nice aura to some people.
It's kind of ironic to look at it that way, eh?
Of course, I could be high again... kakakain ko lang ng pork siomai. Errrh... Apir!
Fresent !!
present po!

TORI, thank you for the overwhelming kudos. Good to have a new friend from Indonesia. Please don't hesitate to share your thoughts with us. We'd love to hear from an educator from Indonesia. Tell me more about your Filipino friend who's a co-teacher of yours.
STEVE, thank you for your kind message to me. Good to hear from an OCW from Iraq, we share the same aspirations somehow. Iraq is one of the most dangerous place now. Please take care and hold on. All of us your Pinoy kababayans are counting on you.
To all of you who shared this evening with me during my lecture presentation on your graduate course on Integrating Technology and Writing Inside the Classroom:
JOANNE, MS. WILLIAMS, JW FLANNAGAN, J TYLER, MIMI, L WES, JAN, and the rest,
I thank you for your overwhelming appreciation of my effort and hardwork. I was nervous at first, realizing that you're all veteran teachers who are wiser than I am inside the classroom. But after seeing your enthusiasm and excitement with my lecture, I got more confident. Thanks to all of you. I will see you again on the Part 2 of my lecture presentation next Tuesday.
one of a kind filipina teacher...its a pity you re teaching abroad....mabuhay ka
