ADHD: Selective concentration a possible sign of ADHD

Yale University psychiatry professor Thomas E. Brown believes ADHD results from impaired neural networks in the areas of the brain that relate to attention. In his new book, "Attention Deficit Disorder: The Unfocused Mind in Children and Adults," Brown says children who can concentrate only when doing something that deeply interests them may suffer from an "impotence of the mind" that could be a sign of the disorder.
