AUTISM: Experts debate diagnosis of autism in very young children

Although some experts believe early diagnosis and intervention can help infants and toddlers who may have autism, others say it's too hard to tell at that age whether a child's behavior is abnormal. One UCLA study of siblings of autistic children found that most 14-month-olds with significant language delays were normally developing by 54 months.
