AUTISM: Children with autism missing key brain activity

Through magnetic resonance imaging, UCLA researchers have found that children with autism show no activity in the part of the brain thought to interpret other people's intentions and emotions, according to a new study in the journal Nature Neuroscience. Psychologist Laura Stephens says the research shows that while children with autism can imitate facial expressions, they can't understand the underlying emotions. USA TODAY (12/5)
