D.C. unveils plan to modernize schools

From the CEC Smart Brief:

A new $2.3 billion modernization plan for the D.C. school system would build 23 schools, renovate 101 more and close 19 campuses by 2019 as part of a strategy to curb the flight of students to charter and private schools, schools chief Clifford B. Janey announced Friday. The plan is the product of months of collaboration among social demographers, city and school district staff, business leaders and community representatives.
