Fragile X and Down syndromes share common threads

A single factor may cause both Fragile X and Down syndromes and may also be associated with autism, according to Stanford University School of Medicine research published in the April 11 issue of the Journal of Neuroscience. Although the genetics are very different, the end result for the brain seems to be the same, said Daniel Madison, associate professor of molecular and cellular physiology. Science Daily Magazine
