Minnesota educator named top adapted P.E. teacher

Nancy Rud Gordon, the National Adapted Physical Education Teacher of the Year

National Adapted Physical Education Teacher of the Year Nancy Rud Gordon treats her young charges like their peers, not as if their disabilities make them fragile. "Treat them like any other kid. If they fall down, make them get back up," said Gordon, a 20-year veteran who teaches preschoolers in a suburban Minneapolis district. "When children are so small, they can make progress so fast, things can change so quickly. One day they can't do something, then the next day, they can." Star Tribune (Minneapolis-St. Paul)
