Are social promotions the best answer for struggling students?

After Richard Llamas, who has attention-deficit disorder, failed science in eighth grade, he almost wished he had been held back despite the likely social costs. Llamas, now 17, was socially promoted along with many other failing students and has continued to struggle with his coursework, including science. Arizona Daily Star (Tucson)
