Schools look to the military to fill out their teacher ranks

A program being used by several districts across the U.S. calls for hiring military personnel as teachers two years before their service ends so they can better prepare for their positions. School leaders hope the expansion of the federal Troops to Teachers program will fill math, science and special education vacancies as well as increase the ranks of male and minority teachers.
