Fibromyalgia remains medical mystery

Fibromyalgia affects millions of Americans but remains somewhat of a medical mystery as patients complain of diffuse pain and other common ailments -- including fatigue, sleep problems, depression, headaches and irritable bowel syndrome. Researchers are not sure what causes the chronic affliction; some believe it might be triggered by an emotional or traumatic event and others say it is a neuro-chemical problem related to disordered sleep and poor exercise. For many patients, a big hurdle is getting a correct diagnosis. CNN
