Obama: Some teachers just aren't right for the job

Responding to a teacher's question at a Thursday forum, President Barack Obama called for a way to remove poor teachers from the classroom that does not rely on testing data. The teacher who asked the question refused to answer when Obama asked whether she knew any educators she wouldn't want teaching her children. Google/The Associated Press

Good for Obama. In my school, there are teachers that are simply amazing, truly effective and love their students. I'd put my children in those classrooms in a heartbeat.

There are also classrooms that I wouldn't consider for my children. Should they be removed? Tough to say. Effectiveness is one thing and teaching style is another. Now that I have children, it's hard to separate those two.

If scores and observations show ineffectiveness, then it might be time for them to go.
