NBCTs should take on leadership roles, NBPTS president says

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards encourages school districts to give leadership roles to National Board Certified Teachers, according to Joseph Aguerrebere, president of the organization. About 82,000 teachers are certified nationwide. "Our focus is expanding from individuals achieving national board certification to a systemic movement that changes the culture of classrooms, schools and districts by leveraging [certified teachers] to build human capital, especially in high-need schools," Aguerrebere said.
