As exit-exam exemption ends, students with disabilities worry

Mira Loma High School junior Natalie Ayala receives good grades in her special education classes, but she has been unable to pass the state's high school exit exam.

California's exemption allowing students with special needs to graduate even if they fail the state's exit exam is due to expire this year. Without a change, that could prevent many students with serious disabilities from graduating no matter how well they do in their classes. The Sacramento Bee (Calif.)
