Special Student Receives Special Award (Graduation Rites 2006)

Our Presentation at Mc Kinley HS, March 2006

Bianca's Graduation June 8, 2006

It was my first time to be invited to Jefferson Jr. HS Graduation Rites in my 3 years of stay here, and I was delightened to see the grade 9 students dignified and well dressed. Made me prouder to see 6 of my special students march and receive their diploma with their peers.

I was indeed ecstatic as Bianca H. was, with her parents and relatives, when she unexpectedly received the PRIDE award from Jefferson and the Most Improved Student award from DCPS. She really deserves the recognition. She's worked so hard and she's a highly motivated student. She is determined to prove to everyone that her being diagnosed with a Learning Disability in special education is not a hindrance to her success in life. She will go to Mc Kinley HS next year.
I am honored to have worked with her as her teacher since her 7th grade and her case manager. I am so proud of her!

Rejoice, Maria!
Huge congratulations for the extraordinary service you provide to your
students at Jefferson. I am particularly elated in this celebration
because you and Bianca visited McKinley SHS in March and taught
seventy-two (72) tenth graders between 9:00 A.M. and 3:40 P.M. about blogging to
their creation and publication of the thinking classroom blog site.
Keep up the great work.
With gratitude,

Promethean Planet
