Teach For America impact just beginning

Educators may debate the effect of Teach For America on schools, writes former Teach For America corps member Michael J. Salmonowicz, but the real impact of the program is what the oldest Teach For America alumni begin to do as they mature into influential positions. "Ninety-six percent of our nation's senators have law degrees," Salmonowicz recalls one Teach For America marketing piece stating. "Imagine if 96% of them had taught for two years in an underresourced school." Education Week
