Six Months After He Was Dismissed, Janey Breaks Silence

WASHINGTON -- About six months after he was dismissed from his job, the former superintendent of D.C. Public Schools Clifford Janey broke his silence and spoke to News4's James Adams about his tenure, his dismissal and current reform efforts.

The former head of DCPS said he doesn't have an ax to grind, but believes he moved DCPS in the right direction.

Janey said he didn't realize the depth of school system problems when he took the job, but that didn't stop him from taking them on.

Janey was dismissed from his post minutes after Mayor Adrian Fenty took office.
"It just continues to be a sense and a growing sense that things should have been done differently," Janey said. Continue Reading NBC4
