Michigan stadium lawsuit may set national ADA precedent

Alarmed by a decision by the U.S. Department of Justice to join a federal lawsuit against the University of Michigan for its shortage of seating for people in wheelchairs, other universities are reconsidering their own stadium renovations. Michigan officials fear creating permanent wheelchair seating as required under the Americans With Disabilities Act could cost it some 4,000 bench seats equaling $2.1 million in lost revenue each year as well as its status as the largest college football stadium.
