Rural Missouri schools cut gifted programs

Two years after Missouri stopped earmarking funds for gifted-education programs, a rash of small, rural schools are leaving such programs behind to save money. "It's very unfortunate, but our concentration is in remediating," said Linda Lemons, principal of an elementary school in a 240-student district in southeast Missouri. STLtoday.com/Associated Press
