Texas educators soon to undergo criminal background checks

As Texas prepares to fingerprint up to 1 million teachers, administrators, aides and volunteers starting next month, some worry that long-ago minor offenses may come back to haunt some otherwise good educators. But Texas Education Commissioner Robert Scott said it will make schools even safer: "Parents may forgive us if their children don't learn everything they can possibly learn, but they will not forgive us if something happens to their child on our watch."
