Gifted education needs more support, some educators say

While 31 states require districts to offer special services to gifted students, there is no federal law that mandates schools to identify or serve such learners, which some educators say causes these students to be underserved. "This is where our future lies. These are the kids that are going to make our country competitive. We should be spending money on them," said Kimberly Allen, a gifted-program coordinator for a Ohio district. The Plain Dealer (Cleveland)
