Medicaid rules discourage people with disabilities from marrying

Under federal regulations, people with disabilities like Joe Entwisle would lose their Medicaid benefits if they marry a spouse with more than $2,000 in assets. Wisconsin state lawmakers are considering seeking federal approval to change that for people with severe disabilities. "People shouldn't have to choose between marriage and Medicaid," said Cayte Anderson, Wisconsin Rehabilitation Association legislative chairwoman. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
