New Principal at Jefferson Middle School

All the staff in my school just recently received this letter from our Chancellor:

To the Jefferson Middle School Community,

As you know, this year we have conducted a nationwide search for the best principal candidate for Jefferson Middle School. To deliver a high quality education requires a strong leader who is singularly focused on raising student achievement, and astounding advances are possible when the right principal is leading a school. Thanks to many of you who have engaged in the principal selection process for Jefferson by examining the candidates and making recommendations to me. I am grateful for all your work on behalf of our students.

After carefully considering the experience and skills that research tells us good principals must have, along with your thoughtful ecommendations and my own interviews, I have concluded that the strongest candidate for Jefferson is Stephanie Patton. I am happy to report that she has accepted the offer of school principal of Jefferson, and her appointment will begin on July 1, 2008.

I would like to thank everyone that participated in the principal selection process, especially the school community panel that interviewed a number of quality candidates. I wish Ms. Patton much success as she leads the Jefferson community and every Jefferson student towards academic success.

Sincerely,
Michelle Rhee
Chancellor

Looking forward to meet our new principal soon...
