Stem cells cure Minneapolis toddler of rare skin disorder

Stem cells from umbilical cord blood and bone marrow have transformed the future of a 2-year-old Minneapolis boy, Nate Liao, who previously could not eat normal food, wear normal clothing or play with his siblings because of a rare skin disorder. "Nate's quality of life is forever changed," said Dr. John Wagner of the University of Minnesota Medical School. "Maybe we can take one more disorder off the incurable list." Los Angeles Times
