Position Overview:

The Office of the Deputy Chancellor for Special Education seeks entrepreneurial, energetic and experienced management talent to lead one of Chancellor Rhee's most important initiatives—compliance with the Blackman-Jones Consent Decree, a major class action litigation suit impacting one of the largest urban school systems in the country. The consent decree requires that the District implement special education hearing officer decisions and settlement agreements in a timely manner while also reducing the backlog of unimplemented cases.The Senior Program Director is a chief advisor to the Deputy Chancellor and serves as a senior director in the Office of Special Education—one of the District's largest divisions. The Senior Program Director will manage a capable and talented case resolution team of 30 full time employees and contractors to eliminate the backlog of cases and timely implementing new ones.
