NBPTS certified teacher named Nevada's top educator

CCHS chemistry teacher Steve Johnson receives warm wishes after it was announced in an assembly at the school last Friday that he was named the State of Nevada's Teacher of the Year.

Steve Johnson, a high school chemistry teacher and National Board Certified Teacher, was named Nevada's Teacher of the Year in part for his dedication to his students and his desire to excite them about chemistry. "I really think teachers help students achieve their dreams and I've seen it happen here a lot," Johnson said. "Teachers help kids see things as possible that they didn't think were. It makes it worthwhile to see that and to think you had a part in it." Reno Gazette-Journal (Nev.)/Fallon Star Press
