PRIDE Pitstop

I had to modify our system of discipline a bit in school. This is my "PRIDE Pitstop" or what other call the "time out area" in the classroom. Used in a consistent, calm, and non-punitive way, my classroom "PRIDE Pitstop" has been a valuable strategy for helping special needs students develop self-control while preserving the smooth flow of the classroom. Because many of our students may have experienced punitive uses of time-out in the past, it’s important to explain clearly that the purpose of "PRIDE Pitstop" in my classroom is to give them a chance to calm down and regain self-control, not to punish them.
