It's my turn...check out my WORK entry in PINOY ATBP...
It was another night for Filipino rocker MiG Ayesa; at least in my humble opinion. Being on the Top 6 of the competition (among the 15 INXS lead singer wannabes), Mig has achieved something every Filipino should be proud of. As a rock-n-roll aficionado, I believe MiG delivered one of best performances of the night. But he could have done it better by singing Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody which he gave up early on for Sir Paul McCartney’s classic “Live and Let Die”. MiG was right in describing the classic Queen song as “the greatest rock song ever written”. I can’t imagine a rocker or a rock fan at least not to like the Bohemian Rhapsody. With his theatrical experience as lead actor of a Queen musicale "We Will Rock You", he could have aced his opponents last night with ease. For Pete’s Sake, Queen’s lead guitarist himself, Brian May, took an interest in MiG’s work.
“Live and Let Die” is one of my favorite rock songs. If were to sing on stage, it’s one song that will surely be on my list. But Rockstar INXS is a competition. It’s not his concert. “Live and Let Die” is less effective than “Bohemian” in letting out the natural rocker’s instinct hiding inside MiG. I agree with INXS member Gary Beers. While watching Mig’s performance, my attention shifted to the band. I just could not resist infatuating the sounds of the strings coming from the orchestra and the lead guitar riffs from the band. To me, the band’s performance overshadowed the MiG’s powerful rendition of Sir Paul’s masterpiece. Every rocker knows it. "Live and Let Die" is one hard act to follow.
But still MiG’s song was better delivered than the rest. I don’t think Mr. Beer’s comment is going to affect the voting. After all, the fans will rate the rockers on their overall performance and not just on the vocals. MiG’s showmanship last night was naturally outstanding.
The first round of voting placed MiG at the top 3 spot. But the voting is not yet over. It’s still anybody’s game. I’m no prophet or fortune teller. But here’s my top 3 for last night anyway; MiG, Suzie and Ty.
To my brother Filipinos, let your opinion be heard. Vote for MiG online at http://rockstar.msn.com/voting
SPECIAL NOTE: Thank you John Clark for this entry *wink*

I'm honored to see my entry here, Teacher Sol. By the way, I just want to let you and your avid readers know that MiG is a cousin of the guitarist of the Manila-based rock band Wolfgang (Manuel Legarda). Rocking runs naturally in the Ayesa-Legarda family.
the first time i saw him was in HK, sa hotel pa. tapos last week, when my daughter was confined sa makati med...sigh...magapapalit na nga ako ng cable network.
JOHN, I'm glad we are focusing on the "positives" of the Filipinos. I believe we need that especially now that our country is facing tough times and the Pinoys are really chalenged and are clouded by negativity. Thanks for a very good entry, worth publishing naman. I am honored as well that I was given permission by a good writer to publish his entry in my blog *wink*.
DARKBLAK, salamat for the vote. Go for the GOLD, Mig Ayesa!
I'm watching the show while writing this. Safe na si MiG! We'll see him perform again next week. Continue showing your support to MiG. Vote online again next week at http://rockstar.msn.com/voting
Pumalpak man ako sa aking prediction (from my top 3 list only MiG and Suzie made it safe), I'm still proud to see a Filipino in a show watched by millions all over the world.
Mig Ayesa really makes me proud to be a Pinoy!
WOW... PINOY NA NAMAN.... GALING MO TALAGA NOYPI... Bakit in all capital letters? TESTED AND PROVEN na KASI eh....
i'm glad to see more of us supporting upcoming (and deserving) filipino talent! galing! :-)
i've never seen this show but some friends from Manila told me all about this and Mig Ayesa... true enough.. they are all for him as well
RICHARD, haha, proud Pinoy ka na rin ha :D I can see that sa link ng name mo dito. Let us just remind ourselves to be humble as a person but remain proud of our race. "Humility is the way to greatness".
PETITE, happy with how things are turning out with our being proactive and focusing on the "positives" of the Pinoys.
DUKE, yes, we know he has "it" to be on top, we need to voice our opinion and vote for him to show our Pinoy support. Please help us disseminate this info so more Filipinos (those who don't know yet) could cast their votes for him too...
We will help promote this big event in PINOY ATBP, watch out for it. Pinoys need to support each other, mahirap yung may mentalidad na pakikipagkumpitensyahan sa isa't-isa.
Pinoy, ROCKS!
in my brother's writing..
Rak on!
galing talaga si Mig, i hope sya manalo, i like his rendition of live and let die hayop ang galing, si maty saynf at JD
And Ty was kicked out! Oh well. I think the top 3 will be Suzie, Mig and Marty. :)
mig is so hot......!!!!
