South Asia Earthquake: another deadly disaster

I just woke up on a Sunday morning excited to have a hearty lunch at the Waterfront near Georgetown. I was so sure it's going to be an enjoyable weekend since tomorrow is a holiday, Columbus Day. I wasn't planning to blog today, I wanted to relax and spend some quality time with my family.

I started with my usual routine of checking my e-mail, and the Yahoo news caught me and got me engrossed clicking on the related news, photos, videos of the South Asia Earthquake which happened 50 minutes ago.

My heart was crushed even more when I read this part in one of the articles:

BALAKOT, Pakistan - Villagers desperate to find survivors dug with bare hands Sunday through the debris of a collapsed school where children had been heard crying beneath the rubble after a massive earthquake killed more than 20,000. (READ FULL STORY: Survivors Sought in South Asia Earthquake)

History tells us how unmerciful and cruel nature could be. And we are witnessing now another deadly disaster; we haven't even recovered from the wrath of Asia Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina.

Are these the signs of the times? Do we have to be scared?

Indeed another devastating event. Cant help but to feel for those families who lost loved ones. Funny cuz my mom said the wolrd is nearing its end with all these disasters happening lately-- hurricanes, tsunami, suicide bombings. Right mom..only God knows when that would happen. I suppose Gods trying to tell us something.. everything is happening for a reason..and its for us to find out. How do we find out..?..seek Him.

I guess we just have to pray harder..and pray for all those families who lost lives..god bless them...

All we can do is pray that most of the survivors would be found soon...

Let's also pray that these things would not happen again (though not possible, but with Power of Prayers it can be) ...

only be afraid if you don't know where you are going.

signs of the times?

yes, everyday there is a sign, for no one knows when the thief in the night will come. everyday,.. for no one knows when we shall draw our last breath.

the world may go on tomorrow, yet we may not. so, indeed, where will we go?

Hi Sol. After the Tsunami incident and Katrina, the earthquake from Pakistan makes me feel that such grievous things are way too much already that sometimes, you could say we may be scared already for they may be sign of the times, or of something foreboding. I really wish and pray that disasters won't happen as grievous as this, or as often as we had seen in the past years...

Peace, my darling friend, Maria. My heart is heavy too. Our world seems to experiencing one natural claminty after another. Yet, God's presence provides comfort and hope beyond the sorrow.

I'm a fan of D.C. Education Blog as well. There are some great insights over there.

These natural disasters are just coming one after another, aren't they?
