U2 Concert in Washington DC

All work and no play will make Teacher Sol dull and gray. - ANONYMOUS
.
You think Teacher Sol doesn't know how to have fun, huh? :D Definitely not me, haha.
Wednesday, October 19, 6:00 pm, we were one of those U2 fans who watched their Vertigo Concert here in Washington DC. We already lined up at the MCI Center, Gallery Place China Town very early, as anticipated, it was jampacked! We bought the tickets last March and we had to buy them via the internet because tickets were already sold out that early. I couldn't believe that after 20 years, this group is still that very popular.
My hubby was the one who couldn't eat and sleep because of too much excitement about this whole thing (for real, I am not exaggerating!). He waited too long to watch U2 live; 15 long years! I remember when I first met him (that was almost 10 years ago), his own bedroom was full of U2 posters, and he used to play U2 recordings almost everyday in his car! He owns every U2 album and knows by heart their songs; that is how he idolizes this group and reveres Bono so much! What is it about U2 that make them stand out and last for decades?
Ultimately, what’s set U2 apart is the visionary passion of vocalist Paul “Bono” Hewson and the group’s music, which mixes rock’s visceral energy with artful atmospherics. U2 has been hugely popular in its first quarter century, yet they’ve remained a supergroup with an idealistic sense of purpose. Having risen to prominence in the early Eighties - a time when the iconic status of rock stars was routinely challenged by skeptical punks and New Wavers - U2 managed to become a stadium-filling phenomenon without sacrificing credibility. Teacher Sol, you're making me an envious man! A huge poster of U2 still hangs in my guest room cum music hideout. I also play my Rattle and Hum DVD every now and then even if I've seen it a million times. I hope that someday I could sing along live with Bono and shout "in the name of love, one heart in the name of love". Too bad, their St. Louis concert is already fully booked :-(

Lucky you. I have friends who plan on seeing them in
Pittsburg tommorrow.

WOW! That's so cool, great concert stuff and definitely worth watching, I know how it feels to see them do it. U2 is one of my favorite group, I got hooked from their Joshua Tree album, took off in the 80s and never looked back, a legend in their own right.

Cheers!

ay! INGGIT AKO!!!

Lapit ng puwesto ninyo! Wish I can watch them in live and hear them sing this...

With Or Without You

See the stone set in your eyes
See the thorn twist in your side
I wait for you

Sleight of hand and twist of fate
On a bed of nails she makes me wait
And I wait without you

With or without you
With or without you

Through the storm we reach the shore
You give it all but I want more
And I'm waiting for you

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away

My hands are tied
My body bruised, she's got me with
Nothing to win and
Nothing left to lose

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you
With or without you

I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For

I have climbed highest mountain
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
Only to be with you

I have run
I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

I have kissed honey lips
Felt the healing in her fingertips
It burned like fire
This burning desire

I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for

I believe in the kingdom come
Then all the colors will bleed into one
Bleed into one
Well yes I'm still running

You broke the bonds and you
Loosed the chains
Carried the cross
Of my shame
Of my shame
You know I believed it

But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for...

IAN,

'yan talaga ang nagagawa ng zoom flickr, hehe. Malayo talaga ang pwesto namin. Di na nila pinagbawal ang camera kasi lahat naman yata ng manonood may camera phones na dala eh. Mahilig ka rin pala sa The Doors, napanood mo ba yung video nila na starring si Val Kilmer and Meg Ryan? Super noh?

ROY,

Mag-reserve ka na ng maaga kasi sold out na yata ang tickets dyan...grabe pa rin ang dating ng band na ito after 20 years, unbelievable!

Can't remember na yung video na yun but yeah, I liked it, pati na yung movie... hehehe...

Pero mas gusto ko ang U2!

my husband is crazy about U2. i adore this band, too but i'm not as crazy as he is. he was really sad for not being able to watch their vertigo concert. i love the songs "sweetest thing" and of course, "with or without you" from their album "the best of 1980-1990".

Sol, inggit na inggit naman ako sa inyo! I'm a great U2 fan, too!

I wish I get to see them perform live before they retire :(

Like John Clark said, you made me feel envious too. I guess maybe, I can wait far longer than 20 years just to watch my most favorite band in the world ever. It's sad that they don't have plans to do a Manila stopover...sigh...
