Mobile phones in school: essential or distracting?

The current flap over New York City's mobile phone ban pits teachers who find the devices disruptive in the classroom against families who argue the gadgets are critical to student safety. One parent advocacy group has started a contest to reward the best student ideas on how to resolve the impasse. The Christian Science Monitor (7/18)
