Research moves on ataxias

An international conference on ataxia in Dublin, Ireland, on Thursday will include a look at research on developing a way to impede the "switch-off" mechanism in the frataxin gene that has been linked to Friedreich's ataxia, a rare genetic disorder. Researchers will also discuss findings from human trials of idebenome, a synthetic antioxidant that could delay disease progression. The Irish Times (Dublin)
