Greek Mythology We Need Badly

Dear Parents and Friends,

I want my students to have as many great learning opportunities as possible, but sometimes I just can't get the funding I need. To address this issue, I turned to DonorsChoose.org.

Here's the scoop. At this nonprofit website, public school teachers (like me!) submit proposals for materials or experiences their students need to learn. These ideas become a reality when concerned individuals (like you!) choose projects to fund. Donors who complete project funding or give more than $100 receive photos and personal thank-you notes from the kids they helped. It's easy - and very rewarding.

The great news is that my project proposal, Greek Mythology We Need Badly, is now posted at DonorsChoose.org! Check it out at:

http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/proposal.html?id=213709&utm_source=teachers&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=TeacherMarketing

Take a look. Also, please consider supporting my students and me by forwarding this message to others who may be interested in improving education.

Best regards,
Maria Angala

PROJECT PROPOSAL (Greek Mythology We Need Badly):

I am teaching an English Language Arts Resource Class to students with special needs. Our school is having a School-Wide Literacy Program and I want my students to be part of it. But they have to have Greek Mythology books that they can read at their current grade level skills.

No education is complete without a large slice of Greek mythology. I teach English Language Arts for my students with special needs, and as part of a School-Wide Literacy Campaign, our Middle School is going to require all students to read The Greek Mythology. I do not want my students to be left behind, so I need some Mythology books that I can use for my differentiated instruction. And there's no better way of meeting that literary quota than with these books that I am requesting. All the great gods and goddesses of ancient Greece are depicted in these, beautiful classic, lovingly illustrated and skillfully told Greek Mythology books that I am sure my students will enjoy reading.

My students need 20 books of "The Gods and Goddesses of Olympus" (Trophy Picture Books) (Paperback)by Aliki; "A Gift from Zeus" (Hardcover)by Jeanne Steig (Author), William Steig (Illustrator); and Classical Kids : An Activity Guide to Life in Ancient Greece and Rome by Laurie Carlson.

The goal of this project is to increase reading levels and comprehension, and to expose the special needs students to classic novels as The Greek Mythology with differentiated instruction.

My students need 20 copies of "The Gods and Goddesses of Olympus" (Trophy Picture Books) (Paperback)by Aliki, and two other books about ancient Greece and Rome. The cost of this proposal is $230, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment.
